Car infotainment systems do make cars better but they are also challenging to clean. Car screen cleaning is not a complicated process but it needs to be done with care if you want to preserve it. It can be easy to get scratches on it and simply make the screen look old and show signs of heavy use. To prevent it from getting scratched and maintain it clean, 3 processes need to be followed in the right order.

#1. Dust removal

Dust and tiny particles get on the surface of the screen. They can scratch the display even when you are using it but more so when cleaning it. Car screen cleaning should start with a light vacuum. You want to remove as many particles off the display before using a piece of cloth to wipe it that would otherwise move the particles around and scratch the screen. You can use any type of vacuum but make sure it has a brush head as you want to capture all the loose particles.

#2. Remove oils and grease

The display of the infotainment system should be contaminated with oils and grease from your fingers. For effective car screen cleaning, those need to be removed. Regular window cleaner will not work. You need to use some sort of soap. Dishwasher soap diluted with water will do the job just fine. The reason why you want this type of soap is that it does not leave smudges and it is easy to rinse off.

#3. Final cleaning

The final step of car screen cleaning is to remove any traces of soap or detergents and leave the display sparkling clean. Window cleaner can be used for this task. Isopropyl alcohol also works but make sure you use paper towels to wipe it off immediately as it can damage certain parts of the dashboard.
